Hialeah, FL - A Florida company has launched a campaign to encourage retailers
to switch from selling paper coffee filters to selling their stainless-steel
filters.
Officials of Golden Brew Inc. here say the new Gold Tone Permanent Coffee
Filters eliminate the need for paper filters, which they say may contain
harmful toxins.
Golden Brew marketers say their filters don't waste paper, don't wear out,
and are not treated with chemicals.
Perhaps most their most arguable claim is that their filters produce a better
cup of coffee.

The filters will sell for $7 to $9 each. That's more than the cost of the
paper filters, which can be found at a rate of 100 filters for less than a dollar.
But steel filters don't have to be replaced, and come with a five-year
guarantee.
The Gold Tone filters are available in the basket and cone styles that fit
most coffeemakers, including Mr. Coffee, Krups and Braun. (Some recent
models from Mr. Coffee and Krups are already equipped with them).
